Easy Crochet Fingerless Bag Lady Mitts - FREE PATTERN

There are a lot of patterns out there for fingerless mitts. I wanted a pair of solid, sturdy ones for my Ranger-General Sylvanas gauntlets. If you keep up with my Facebook, you know that I've gone insane and I'm crocheting a Sylavanas cosplay based on her Ranger-General skin in Heroes of the Storm.

NB: This is NOT a pattern for the completed gauntlets, this is just the mitts they're attached to.

Finished mitts measure approximately 11" in length and 4" across at the widest part, so they're small adult or kid-sized. Because I am a waif of a human. For larger mitts you can either use a larger hook size or add length or girth in the form of more rows or stitches.

Skills Needed (and Abbreviations)
  • ch: chain
  • sl: slip stitch
  • sc: single crochet
  • sc2tog: single crochet two stitches together, single crochet decrease
  • rnd(s): round(s)
  • st(s): stitch(es)
Materials and Stuff
  • worsted weight yarn (I used Caron Simply Soft in black, which is a little lighter than a lot of worsted weight)
  • size F crochet hook
  • stitch marker (optional)
Gauge: 5 sc/inch to achieve the size noted aboveYou'll be starting each mitt at the finger end, and unless you only want one mitt, you should make two of them. The number of stitches in each round is denoted at the end in parentheses ().

Ch 33, sl to join form circle being careful not to twist chain, ch 1;
Rnd 1: sc in each st around, sl into top of 1st sc, ch 1, do not turn (32);
Rnds 2-4: repeat rnd 1, turning work for rnd 4 only (32);
Rnd 5-11: sc in each sc around, ch 1 and turning work at the end without joining - this creates the thumb hole, join with sl at the end of rnd 11 (32);
Rnd 12: sc in each st around, join with sl, ch1 and do not turn anymore (32);
Rnd 13: *sc in 6 sts, sc2tog, repeat from * around, sl to join, ch 1 (28);
Rnd 14: *sc in 5 sts, sc2tog, repeat from * around, sl to join, ch 1 (24);
Rnd 15-24: sc in each st around, sl to join, ch 1 turn (24)
Rnd 25: *sc in 7 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around, sl to join, ch 1 (27)
Rnd 26-30: sc in each st around, cl to join, ch 1 (27)
Rnd 31: *sc into 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around, sl to join, ch 1 (30)
Rnd 32-42: sc in each st around, sl to join, ch 1 (30)
Rnd 43: *ch 4, sc2tog, repeat from * around, sl to join, ch 1 (25)
Rnd 44: sc in each around, sl to join (25)
Weave in your ends. Boom.

And here's a look at the finished gauntlets, if you were wondering about them. I'll do some proper Sylvanas cosplay posts soon, I promise. Until then, there's a Facebook album.
